ARTIST: Dream Theater
TITLE: A Dramatic Turn of Events
YEAR: 2011
LABELRoadrunner Records
Author: Raymond Melendez

Dream Theater is back with an epic solution to weak modern metal. “A Dramatic Turn of Events” marks the 11th Studio album in the band’s history and after losing founding member Mike Portnoy, they seem to have lost NO steam. The Massachusetts gang is back with a vengeance.

The first track sets the mood for what’s yet to come. “On the Backs of Angels” starts with a melodic intro that will put fans at ease. The technical proficiency, which separates Dream Theater from the rest, is vividly present here. The handful of tracks, 9 to be exact, shows the same complexity as the one before. Each song provides it’s own intro that segways into a mixture of Keyboard strokes, Melodic vocals and Classical guitar riffs giving the album a Dream-like emotional sensation.

Perhaps not the best Dream Theater album but it is destine to be a great one. A Dramatic Turn of Events proves the band still have the chops even after Portnoy’s departure. The album is a must have for any Progressive Metal fan.

The album will be released in North America on September 13th 2011. Pre-order Now.
