SepticFlesh – The Great Mass is one of those albums that just seems to get better the more you listen to it. This is truly a masterpiece, showcasing technical perfection almost to good to be true.
I must admit that, to me, The Great Mass feels more like a movie than an album and it would feel right at home as an soundtrack to a great Horror flick. The story draws you in, captivated in a virtual world as if to drift into a daydream or to an alternate reality. Soothing yet heavy, from rapid breakdowns to an almost standstill and it doesn’t letup.
The Orchestra adds a hint of depth to the overall sound, keeping in touch with the heavy guitar riffs which appear to complement each other.
From HardCore Symphony to Angel – like Soprano voice, The Great Mass, Overall, is something you do not want to miss, black tie is optional…
