Greyhaze Records is proud to announce the formation and signing of brand new death metal act WARFATHER, a devastating new unit conceived by ex-Morbid Angel gladiator Steve Tucker!

In a statement on what metal fans are to expect from WARFATHER, Tucker stated: “This is my new band; it will be my main focus…. it is my kind of death metal.” Having been known for his vocal and bass skills in all of his previous acts, while still holding down vocal duties here, Tucker has moved on to guitar with this project. “I have always played the guitar and I think now is the time for me to make the move. I think doing solos and extra guitar parts will allow me to express myself in a whole new way!” Also on guitars is Armatura, formerly of Cincinnati-based death metal band Dominion. Recruited to the drum kit is Deimos, a death metal veteran currently playing in the band Temple and also having played with bands such as Severe Torture. The bass is dispatched by Nick McMaster (Krallice, Nader Sadek, Castevet). Additional guitar contributions will be tracked by friends of WARFATHER, which include many notable death metal stalwarts; full details will be announced shortly.

WARFATHER are currently in the final stages of tracking the yet-to-be-titled album, with mixing to take place immediately after. Tucker himself is producing the entire release, as he did for the 2011-released Nader Sadek album In the Flesh, which Tucker also performed on. The artwork is in the final stages as well, and will be unveiled shortly, along with the details on the album, which is being slated for release this Fall. Upon its’ release, WARFATHER will take their battle to the highways of the planet on tour in support of the album.

After starting out as vocalist/bassist for death/thrash act Ceremony, Steve Tucker moved on to handle bass and vocals on Morbid Angel’s infamous Formulas Fatal to the Flesh, Gateways to Annihilation and Heretic LPs. In 2009 Tucker was recruited to take part in the Nader Sadek album In the Flesh for release through then brand new label Greyhaze Records, and licensed to Season of Mist Records. The project also featured Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), Rune Eriksen (Mayhem, Ava Inferi) and more. During this time Tucker struck up a great relationship with Greyhaze Records, and together they decided to bring the reality of WARFATHER to fruition.

German thrashers DEW-SCENTED — whose new album, “Icarus,” will be released this summer — have unveiled their new lineup. The current roster for 2012 features (l to r):

Rory Hansen – Guitars
Marvin Vriesde – Guitars
Leif Jensen – Vocals
Joost van der Graaf – Bass
Koen Herfst – Drums

Jensen made the following statement in regards to the changes: “I’m proud to present a new chapter in the history of DEW-SCENTED! By early 2011, after four weeks of European touring with Nile, it showed clearly that our previous ‘Invocation’ lineup was collapsing, and one member after another left the fold for different reasons. We decided to play some final festival shows together in the summer, and after Party.San and Brutal Assault, DEW-SCENTED went away from the spotlight in order to re-group and regain new focus. And here we finally are again, back with an improved lineup and a really strong new album!”

The new lineup reintroduces Marvin Vriesde (Severe Torture, ex-Blo Torch) as the lead guitarist as well as the key songwriter. Vriesde has been involved with DEW-SCENTED — whether as a live session guitarist as well as a studio guitarist – since the band’s first major tour in 1996. “I’m truly happy to have finally managed to team up with my buddy Marvin in DEW-SCENTED,” Jensen says. “Being one of my closest friends in music and the band’s ‘longest running companion,’ it’s amazing to be able to finally put the band’s musical present and future in his hands. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the great results we achieved!”

Vriesde commented: “DEW-SCENTED and I have a long history together. I helped the band out on several occasions in the past — studio as well as live situations — so when Leif suggested joining forces for real on the new record, I was thrilled! This allowed me to write DEW-SCENTED songs that I would really want to hear from the band, from a fan’s point of view.”

Rounding out the lineup are drummer Koen Herfst (I Chaos, Epica), bassist Joost van der Graaf (I Chaos, ex-Creepmime) and guitarist Rory Hansen. According to Vriesde, “The writing process went really smooth and focused. Leif and I were bouncing all these awesome ideas around. We realized that these songs deserved to be recorded in the best form possible. That’s why I asked a good local friend of mine, Koen, to handle the drums. In turn, he brought in Joost to handle the bass duties for the album. Both are amazing musicians, and that’s what sets ‘Icarus’ apart for me. I think everyone brought something extra to the table, which really took the album to a higher level. ‘Icarus’ is a really heavy album, but it somehow has a darker feel to it in comparison to the previous DEW-SCENTED albums.”

DEW-SCENTED will debut their new lineup on July 20th at Germany’s Metalsplash Festival and embark on a short tour alongside Six Feet Under soon after. Full tour dates are listed below. Additionally, the band has released another online teaser for “Icarus” via Germany’s Metal4. The video provides a sneak peek of the recording process and showcases some new music from “Icarus.” Check it out below:

The recording of the new NOMINON album is certainly moving on after a bit chaotic change of studio in the very last minute (due to some incompetent loosers at the studio we had booked to start with), so with a very short notice we could start the recordings with engineer Robert Ericsson at STUDIO HELL, a small studio located here in Jönköping, Sweden. We actually used that studio for the latest 7″ EP “Manifestation Of Black”, and since then the studio itself has been upgraded, that somehow was necessary before we felt that we could use it for a proper album recording.

So far all drums are done, most of the guitar parts, as well as some bass and vocals. This weekend vokillist Henke Skoog will continue recording the remaining vocal parts. It all sounds extreme to the core, very morbid and filthy, yet variated Death Metal as usual when talking about NOMINON.

The plan is to have everything recorded by May 22nd because on the 24th Mr. Javi Bastard (of The “True” GRAVEYARD) will start to mix and then master the album at MOONTOWER STUDIOS in Barcelona, Spain together with NOMINON drummer Perra Karlsson.

We can also reveal that this new (fifth) NOMINON album will be entitled “The Cleansing”, it’s a title that certainly fits the material on this coming underground monster. Songs that will appear on the album includes “Infernal Rites”, “Abhorrent Parasites”, “Son Of Doom”, “In The Name Of Gomorrah”, “Unholy Sacrifice”, “Mausoleum”, “Slaughter The Imposter” among others.

The cover artwork will be taken care of by Juanjo Castellano, so expect nothing but ominous and grim darkness.

DEATHGASM RECORDS will be held responsible for the LP/CD release in just a couple of months, we will get back to you asap with further details around specific release dates and so on.

ARTIST: Malice
TITLE: New Breed of Godz
YEAR: May 28, 2012
LABEL: Steamhammer/SPV
Author: Christian Redelsperger

Classic heavy metal sure isn’t being produced as much anymore. There aren’t too many major record labels signing metal bands with the fierce sound that infected Europe in the early 80s and it seems like the closest fans can get to that is by picking up whatever new Saxon record is lying in the shelves. American metal ensemble Malice changes all of this with their latest release, “New Breed of Godz.”

Malice is no stranger to the metal scene. Having two tracks featured on the legendary “Metal Massacre” mix tape, headlining gigs with Metallica as the opening band, touring with glam titans W.A.S.P. and thrash kings Slayer, Malice has had their share of time around the circuit.

Opening with its self-titled cut, the disc breaks into razor sharp double-picking followed by vocalists James Rivera’s Halford-esque scream. The next track “Hell Rider” might be one of the best tracks on the album, starting with a motorcycle roar and rock-solid drum rhythms, the song is full of blood-pounding fury and mighty lyrics.

“New Breed of Godz” doesn’t stop its onslaught of virtuoso guitars and fist-pumping choruses until “Winds of Death (Angel of Light).” A ballad that starts cheesy, it evolves into a work of art and provides a perfect transition into the much heavier “Air Attack.”

“Chain Gang Woman” and “Slipping Through the Cracks” are the record’s only dry moments but Malice recovers from this with the brutal encore, “Godz of Thunder.” One feature listeners should admire is its production value. It’s clearly not a Rick Rubin or Bob Rock studio sound, but that’s what sets it apart. “New Breed of Godz” sounds like an album that belongs in the 80s and it’s that particular sound which makes it such a gem. Listeners should also appreciate vocalist James Rivera. When so many bands seem to double up on instruments and vocals, the singing just isn’t always up to par and it’s refreshing to see a true powerhouse leading the band.

“New Breed of Godz,” however, is a return to that timeless 80s heavy metal and packs enough dive bombs, banshee wails and air tight drumming to keep listeners headbanging from start to finish.

Having signed with Relapse Records last year, Atlanta-based thundergrinders PRIMATE will formally unleash their debut LP via the label in the scorching Summer months ahead.

After seeing a limited release by the band directly via a 1000-run CD pressing in March of 2011, PRIMATE‘s crushing Draw Back A Stumpwill see an official worldwide Relapse release on July 3rd on CD, LP and deluxe digital download. The seven hymns from the initial version now include additional rhythm guitars and have been remixed and remastered, and are joined with three additional previously-unreleased bonus tracks on this edition.

An all-star band comprised of extreme music scene vets hellbent on delivering Grade-A punk the likes of which has not been set loose on the ears of the world since the glory days hardcore, PRIMATE channel decades of international extreme music influences into a glorious record of hellish rage all their own. Upon its initial release Decibel Magazine praised Draw Back A Stump calling it “grind with elements of classic U.K. crust, Swedish D-beat and American hardcore, plus just enough experimentation to create the aural equivalent of a watch throwing springs and gears in every direction while keeping perfect time,” with Metal-Army America adding “Draw Back A Stump has all the bells and whistles of old-school hardcore and the best of modern sludgey-grind” and Grind To Death boasted the record is “like no other grind I have heard…borrowing from the crisp clean metal stylings and structures merged with the rhythmical pogo stick bouncings of punk to make its own blend of music.”

In honor of the diverse, damaging new album’s release onto thrill-seeking audiophiles this week, Rock-A-Rolla Magazine is streaming Le Stelle: A Voyage Adrift in its entirety via their official website AT THIS LOCATION.

Showcasing the progressively-charged act’s unique methodological bombast with nearly 50 minutes of unclassifiable aggro-technical metallic thunder, even more focused yet equally as potent as their previous releases, Le Stelle: A Voyage Adrift is an album that elevates the name INCOMING CEREBRAL OVERDRIVE from the cult depths they’ve roamed over recent years, its laser-induced riffs and neck-snapping time signatures will brand the name of the band into the brains of all who endure the journey of the ten tracks on the LP. Orders for the album can be placed via the Supernatural Cat Store RIGHT HERE.

ICO have recently returned from a crushing European tour alongside their companions in Ufomammut, and are preparing for more live attacks in the months ahead.

“The band have taken a major stylistic leap forward…the many layers and countless twists and turns making for a dense but enthralling listen…they have to be commended for their skill and vision here.” – Rock A Rolla

“…jammed ear to rear with quirky time changes, intrepid riffing, and heavy bullishness, making it a contemporary yet progressive blend of math rock, hardcore, and sludge.” – Broken Beard

“This is a record for those who like a bit of technicality with their blunt, forceful riffage, there’s enough going on here to warrant a heft of repeated listens, investigate for a challenging and satisfying listen.” – Ninehertz

“This is a record that is enormously demanding in terms of your attention: it bellows at you to stop what you’re doing and invest time with it from aggressive beginning to monolithic end.” – This Is Not A Scene
