The year 2003 marked the dawn of sdmetal.com and the flourishing of the San Diego metal scene. By a stroke of luck, I crossed paths with an extraordinary group of musicians.
In the humble confines of Julio’s garage, I witnessed Edgar, Julio, Israel, and Franky pour their souls into birthing Severed. During our conversations, the need for a bassist was a frequent topic, until one day, a striking figure—Ryan Tyler Reidy—arrived in style, clad in a black leather jacket and carrying his bass case, right at Julio’s doorstep. It was at that moment Severed felt truly complete.
I count myself incredibly fortunate to have managed Severed during those pivotal early years, sharing stages with other local metal talents across San Diego.
As time marched on, Mondo ascended to lead vocals following Edgar’s departure. Regrettably, my paths diverged from Severed’s journey before I could learn of Edgar’s exit, leaving a chapter of our shared saga untold.
