Montreal sludge merchants Dopethrone are bringing their Uniworse Tour to El Cajon Boulevard in the dead of winter. The Dopethrone San Diego show is Sunday, Jan. 17, 2027, at Soda Bar, with Los Angeles’ -(16)- and Armed for Apocalypse in support. It’s a properly heavy package for a month that’s usually quiet for the low-and-slow crowd.
Dopethrone San Diego: The Details
Here’s what the DICE ticket page lists as of Sunday, Oct. 18:

- Venue: Soda Bar, 3615 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego

- Age: 21+ with valid ID
- Tickets: $24.72, which DICE describes as “the price you’ll pay”

- Presented by: Soda
Set times for the Dopethrone San Diego show have not been posted. DICE allows refunds within 24 hours of purchase or if the show is rescheduled or canceled. Full show details are on our event listing.
One thing to watch: some listing aggregators show the Soda Bar date without -(16)-. SDMETAL is going with the DICE billing for the Dopethrone San Diego listing, which matches the tour routing from the band announcement.
Three Lineups on One Tour
The support changes partway through the run, so the San Diego bill isn’t the same as the earlier California shows. According to MetalGigs, the Uniworse Tour runs Jan. 8-23 and has three different support combinations:
| Dates | Support |
|---|---|
| Jan. 8-14 (Reno to Palmdale) | Conjurer, Armed for Apocalypse |
| Jan. 15 (Los Angeles, Zebulon) | Conjurer, -(16)- |
| Jan. 16-23 (Indio to Mesa) | -(16)-, Armed for Apocalypse |
That means Conjurer’s last show on the run is in L.A. on Jan. 15. Anyone who wants all four bands in one weekend would have to drive north for that one. The Dopethrone San Diego date is the second show of the final stretch, the night after the Dune Room in Indio.
The Full Routing
Here’s the full run. The Dopethrone San Diego stop is the ninth of 14 shows and the last one in California. After it, the tour takes a day off before heading into Arizona.

Who’s Playing
Dopethrone are a Montreal trio that MetalGigs files under sludge/doom. According to the DICE bio, the band calls its sound “Slutch,” which the bio describes as the Canadian term for cold sludge, or dirty mud snow. That fits a January tour. Their next release, label and any new album tied to this tour have not been announced, so check the band’s own channels rather than older bios. The DICE bio still refers to a release “to be out early 2024.”
-(16)- come from Los Angeles. They join the run at Zebulon on Jan. 15 and stay on through the Mesa finale, so San Diego gets them as part of the final stretch.
Armed for Apocalypse play most of the run, including every date from Indio onward. Beyond the tour listing, no new release from them has been announced in the sources SDMETAL checked.
Why Soda Bar Fits
The El Cajon Boulevard room is where San Diego goes for loud, close-up shows. Just last week it hosted Soulfly, Nailbomb and Incite. Soda Bar is a small room. If the Dopethrone San Diego show sells out, the alternative is a drive to Indio the night before, or to Zebulon on Jan. 15 for the version of the bill with Conjurer.
Heavy music fans have had a good year in San Diego. Look back at Mastodon, Deafheaven and Alcest at Del Mar, and see what’s trending in the San Diego metal scene. Ticket links for the Dopethrone San Diego show are on DICE now. SDMETAL will add set times when the venue posts them.
