Ascended Dead Release Live Apocalypse, a Soundboard Recording From the 2024 American Apocalypse Tour

Ascended Dead released Live Apocalypse today, Nov. 6, through Carbonized Records. It’s an eight-song live album recorded straight from the board on May 24, 2024, at the Canal Club in Richmond, Virginia, during the band’s American Apocalypse tour.

SDMETAL covered that tour when it was announced, including the May 7, 2024, Brick By Brick stop in San Diego. The Richmond show was part of the East Coast leg, when Ascended Dead were on the road with Incantation and Ringworm.

What’s on Live Apocalypse

The eight-song set runs:

  1. Ungodly Death
  2. Bestial Vengeance
  3. Nexus of the Black Flame
  4. Subconscious Barbarity
  5. Fissure of Chaos
  6. Inverted Ascension
  7. Visceral Strike
  8. Ensnared for Eternity

Steven Jackson engineered the recording as front-of-house engineer. Drummer Charlie Koryn mixed it, Greg Wilkinson mastered it at Earhammer Studio, and Kyle Bowen made the artwork. The MetalList reports the band calls it a return to the old Marshall tone of its early years, played with the more violent approach of the two albums.

The MetalList reports that Live Apocalypse is out on CD, LP, cassette and digital. The full album is streaming on Carbonized’s Bandcamp.

A West Coast Band in Two Regions

According to The MetalList, Ascended Dead formed in 2011 in Southern California and have put out two full-lengths, 2017’s Abhorrent Manifestation and 2023’s Evenfall Of The Apocalypse. They take their cues from early Possessed, Necrovore and Venom: dark, primitive, chaotic death metal. The lineup is now split between Southern California and the Pacific Northwest.

The current lineup is Jon Reider (guitar, vocals), Ian Lawrence (guitar), Charlie Koryn (drums) and Jonny Quintana (bass).

The MetalList also reports that the band has toured widely. Besides the 2024 U.S. run, it toured Europe in 2019, 2023 and 2024, played Southeast Asia and Australia in 2025, and has played Maryland Deathfest, California Deathfest, Chaos Descends, Kill-Town Death Fest, Total Death Over Mexico and Invoking Black Death Fest.

Next Ascended Dead Show

The MetalList lists Wretched Rites MMXXVI in Sacramento on Nov. 15 as the band’s next show. No San Diego date has been announced.
