THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will be touring in support of their tenth studio album, Servitude, set for release on September 27th via Metal Blade Records.

With the tragic passing of the band’s frontman and co-founder Trevor Strnad in 2022, The Black Dahlia Murder faced a heartbreaking crossroads. Could they continue without their charismatic leader, or would they close the chapter on one of death metal’s most beloved acts?

After a period of profound grief and deep soul-searching, the remaining members – bassist Max Lavelle, drummer Alan Cassidy, and producer/guitarist Brandon Ellis – made a bold decision. Co-founder Brian Eschbach transitioned from guitar to vocals, carrying on the torch while honoring Strnad’s spirit. Former guitarist Ryan Knight rejoined the fold, completing a new lineup that debuted at a tribute show for Strnad in their Detroit hometown.

Fast forward to today, and The Black Dahlia Murder has defied expectations with their new album, Servitude. This release marks not only Eschbach’s recorded debut as lead vocalist and lyricist, but also the band’s first album with Knight since 2015’s “Abysmal.”

While some may be skeptical of an album without Trevor’s iconic presence, many fans have embraced the band’s choice to move forward. “More than pressures or expectations from the fanbase, I feel their trust and support,” explains Ellis.”We’ve always poured our hearts into the music for them, and they’ve appreciated our consistency. The global response to Trevor’s passing showed us the profound impact our music has on people, and the importance of carrying on his legacy.”

Servitude was meticulously crafted with Ellis recording guitars, bass, and vocals at his New Jersey home studio. Drums were tracked by Mark Lewis in Nashville, Tennessee, where the album was also mixed. Mastering duties fell to the legendary Ted Jensen.
