North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre
North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista is San Diego County’s big outdoor shed. The Live Nation–owned amphitheater, with reserved seats up front and lawn behind, opened July 21, 1998, as Coors Amphitheatre, the first venue of its kind in the county. Live Nation lists room for up to 19,128 guests, and the 2018 naming announcement called it a 20,000-capacity venue.
It has had a string of names: Coors Amphitheatre, Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre, Sleep Train Amphitheatre and Mattress Firm Amphitheatre, before becoming North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in November 2018. As the area’s largest venue of its kind, it’s where the big summer package tours set up, with the season running roughly April through October.
