Whistle Stop Bar

Whistle Stop Bar, “The Little Bar That Could,” is a South Park institution that punches way above its size when it comes to heavy music. The tiny stage has hosted everything from the blackened screamo of Portrayal of Guilt to the doom and heavy rock of Lord Howler, Doc Hammer and Deep Sea Thunder Beast.

It’s a neighborhood bar first, so expect shoulder-to-shoulder crowds and bands close enough to touch. That’s the appeal: Whistle Stop is where you go to catch a heavy band before the bigger rooms do, or just to see one in the sweatiest setting possible. Open seven days a week from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.
