Progressive death metal pioneers Rivers of Nihil are making waves once again with the announcement of their self-titled fifth full-length album, set to drop on May 30, 2025, via Metal Blade Records. This highly anticipated album marks a new chapter for the Pennsylvania-based band, combining elements from their past work while introducing fresh sonic landscapes.
With over sixteen years and five albums under their belt, Rivers of Nihil have crafted a record that represents both a return to their roots and an evolution in their sound. Featuring ten powerful tracks, the album showcases the band’s refined approach to technicality, atmosphere, and storytelling.
“I feel like these songs are the perfect blend of all our albums, with all the fat cut away,” says founding guitarist Brody Uttley. “Everything our fans love about our sound is here – from technical mastery to experimental passages and soaring choruses.”
The album also sees Adam Biggs stepping into the lead vocalist role while still handling bass duties, with Andy Thomas(ex-Black Crown Initiate) joining as a second guitarist and contributing vocals.
