Currents Our Fates Lie In Tandem is the Connecticut metalcore band’s fourth album and its first for Rise Records, due Feb. 12, 2027. The band announced the signing and the album Oct. 30 with the lead single and official music video for “Retributioner”, posted on Rise Records’ YouTube channel.
According to the announcement published by Blabbermouth, the 11-song record is the band’s first full-length in nearly four years, following 2023’s The Death We Seek.
Currents Our Fates Lie In Tandem: What the Band Says
Vocalist Brian Wille described the album this way:
“There’s some social commentary and a little bit of heartbreak too. I brought the wall down, so I could be more personal than ever before. ‘Our Fates Lie In Tandem’ is not heavy for the sake of being heavy either. We agreed a track doesn’t need to be ‘a walking breakdown’ in order to make an impact. So, you’re getting the lows, the highs, and everything in between. There’s a reason for each element and meaning behind every word.”
On the move to Rise, the band said: “The legacy of Rise is unmatched. The impact of their work has been felt by all of us for as long as we’ve loved music. We’re so excited to work with them on this new era of our band.” Rise also released Polyphia’s new album this month, ahead of that band’s rescheduled SOMA San Diego date.
The band called the making of the record “an intense, multi-year process that has challenged our existing framework of songwriting,” adding, “We took no shortcuts in building these songs up to be the best and most cohesive of our career.”
“Retributioner” Leads Off the New Era
The band says “Retributioner” “is about how our world smothers the righteous.” The full statement:
“We’re told that to get anywhere in life you need to abandon your principles and cut through others as they would to you, fostering a sense of war-mindedness regarding those we compete with, debate with, and don’t agree with. ‘Retributioner’ seeks to dismantle those ideas, even if it means dismantling the structures and systems perpetuating them.”
The video credits list Errick Easterday and Chris Klumpp as directors. “Retributioner” is track 3 on the album, and Rise says all preorders receive an instant download of the single.
Production Credits
Guitarist Chris Wiseman, whom the announcement calls a driving force behind the production of the band’s previous full-lengths, produced Our Fates Lie In Tandem. Ricky Armellino handled additional production, and Jon Dolese, whose credits include Chelsea Grin and Cane Hill, mixed it.

Currents start a co-headlining European tour with Erra on Nov. 2, with Caskets and Aviana supporting on all dates. Metal Injection lists the run from Nov. 2 in Utrecht, Netherlands, through Nov. 23 in Munich, Germany.
The lineup is Brian Wille on vocals, Chris Wiseman and Ryan Castaldi on guitar, Christian Pulgarin on bass and Matt Young on drums. Formed in 2011, Currents have released five EPs and three albums.
No U.S. dates, and no San Diego show, have been announced in support of the new album. SDMETAL’s list of 2027 tours skipping San Diego tracks other 2027 runs that have bypassed the city.
