Brick by Brick was San Diego’s home for heavy music. The 21+ independent club at 1130 Buenos Ave. in Bay Park opened in 1995 and was revived in 2014. In a room of about 300, it hosted Neurosis, Dio, System of a Down and Zakk Wylde in its early years, and later became the place where touring metal and countless local bands shared a stage.
Brick by Brick closed its Buenos Ave. location in August 2026. Owners Jordan Mancino and Shannon Joy Wiles announced on Aug. 5 that their “chapter on Buenos Ave” was ending, and the final show, “Bye Bye Buenos” with The Undertaking, Blackcast, Helsótt and Cascade Effect, sold out on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026. No official reason or new location has been announced. We’re keeping this page up as a historical profile.
