Infectious Grooves to Play Entire Debut Album at The Fonda for 35th Anniversary Nov. 28

Infectious Grooves to Play Entire Debut Album at The Fonda for 35th Anniversary Nov. 28

Infectious Grooves are going back to the beginning. The funk-metal band formed by Mike Muir and Robert Trujillo will mark the Infectious Grooves 35th anniversary of their debut album, The Plague That Makes Your Booty Move… It’s The Infectious Grooves, by playing the whole record at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2026. The band announced the show on social media on Tuesday, Oct. 20, according to Blabbermouth. Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 a.m. Pacific.

The Infectious Grooves 35th Anniversary Lineup

Blabbermouth lists five players for the Infectious Grooves 35th anniversary show at the Fonda:

  • Mike Muir: vocals
  • Robert Trujillo: bass
  • Dean Pleasants: guitar
  • Dave Kushner (ex-Velvet Revolver): guitar
  • Brooks Wackerman (Avenged Sevenfold): drums

Trujillo has been Metallica’s bassist for years now, and Muir still fronts Suicidal Tendencies, so a full Infectious Grooves set doesn’t come along often. Kushner and Wackerman bring their own big-band resumes to it. Pleasants rounds out the two-guitar lineup.

What the Band Said

The announcement ties the show to another milestone at the same venue. “It’s a Fonda Theater deja vu!” the band wrote. “Thanks for all the people that came out to get Cyco October 1st with ST to help get the Fonda Theater 100th Anniversary off to a slamming STart. Now INFECTIOUS GROOVES is coming back to Funk it Up with another special anniversary show.”

On the plan for the night, the post says: “November 28th, Mike Muir, Robert Trujillo, Dean Pleasants, Brooks Wackerman and Dave Kushner are gonna play the entire first album, along with of course some other high octane jams!” It adds: “And definitely expect a surprise or two, as I.G. is gonna take the festivities to new heights, cause you know ‘These Freaks are here to Party’ and we hope you come along and party with us too!”

So beyond the full album, the band is promising “other high octane jams” and “a surprise or two.” It hasn’t said what those are, and no guests have been named.

Tickets

According to the band’s post, tickets for the Infectious Grooves 35th anniversary concert go on sale “this Friday 7:00 AM PST,” which is Friday, Oct. 23. Ticket prices, the ticketing outlet, door times and any opening acts weren’t included in the announcement or in Blabbermouth’s report. We’ll add them if they’re published. The Fonda is in Hollywood, so for San Diego fans this one is a drive up the 5.

How Infectious Grooves Started

Blabbermouth’s background says Infectious Grooves formed soon after Trujillo joined Suicidal Tendencies in 1989. Muir and Trujillo got together with friends to write songs centered more on the bass, while giving everyone else in the band a lot of freedom. The debut, The Plague That Makes Your Booty Move… It’s The Infectious Grooves, came out 35 years ago, which is what this Infectious Grooves 35th anniversary show is celebrating.

Muir has explained where the mix of styles came from. “SEX PISTOLS and PARLIAMENT were my two favorite bands when I was young,” he said, in a quote Blabbermouth included with the report. “People think they’re completely different but I saw a lot of similarities, even if musically they were categorized as completely different styles. There’s something beautiful about breaking rules that never should have been made.”

That punk-meets-P-Funk idea is the whole point of the band, and the debut is the record that defined it. Playing it front to back is the obvious way to mark the Infectious Grooves 35th anniversary.

What We Don’t Know Yet

  • Ticket prices and where to buy
  • Door and show times
  • Whether there are openers
  • What the promised “surprise or two” is
  • Whether there will be any other Infectious Grooves 35th anniversary dates, including San Diego. Only the Fonda show has been announced.

Trujillo, Metallica and SoCal in 2027

Trujillo’s day job is keeping him busy in Southern California too. Metallica play Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on May 13, 2027. If you’re making the drive to L.A. for this Infectious Grooves 35th anniversary show, it’s also worth keeping an eye on other SoCal road-trip shows, like System of a Down at the Rose Bowl. Back home, the Fear Factory San Diego show at House of Blues on Nov. 25 lands three days earlier, and our San Diego metal scene guide covers the rest.
