Jared Gomes knee news hit Nov. 4: the (hed)p.e. frontman is heading into robotic-arm-assisted total knee replacement surgery on Dec. 9, 2026. He posted the news on Instagram on Nov. 4 and traced the injury back more than 20 years to a stage dive while guesting with Soulfly. The post is transcribed by ThePRP; the band’s Instagram is @therealhedpe.

Jared Gomes Knee Surgery Tied to Soulfly Stage Dive
In the Instagram post transcribed by ThePRP, Gomes wrote: “Here is an X-ray of my left knee. I had ACL surgery over 20 years ago. I tore it on tour with SNOT and SOULFLY.”
“I was onstage with Max Cavalera, doing Benji’s part on ‘Prejudice.’ I stage dove, got thrown back over the barrier, and landed on one leg in a puddle of beer. My knee snapped. ACL torn.”
“I always said I’d do this until the wheels fell off. Well… the wheels have all but fallen off! Thanks to y’all, I have health insurance, and on December 9th, I’m getting a new knee. Thank you for your continued support. I’m nothing without you guys. Nothing.”
What Gomes Announced — and What He Did Not
Gomes said the Dec. 9 procedure is a robotic-arm-assisted total knee arthroplasty. ThePRP notes that this kind of surgery generally involves months of recovery; that timeline is general reporting, not a recovery date from Gomes or (hed)p.e.
ThePRP framed the post as downtime fans can expect later this year. No show cancellations and no return-to-stage date have been announced. Any effect on future Southern California club dates is simply unknown for now.
Snot Connection and SoCal Context
(hed)p.e. is a longtime Southern California band, and Gomes’ injury story specifically names Snot and Soulfly. He said he was filling Benji’s part on “Prejudice” when the dive went wrong. For recent Snot coverage on SDMETAL, see Theftuous Ghost Town — a project with Snot, One Minute Silence and Relative Ash members — and our new Snot album update.
No San Diego venue date is attached to this announcement, so this post stays News-only. The SoCal scene note is the band’s long local footprint and the Snot crossover in Gomes’ own account, not a new ticketed San Diego show.
