Swedish heavyweights Thrown are coming back to North America in the spring, but the Thrown 2027 tour skips San Diego. The 23-date run with Guilt Trip and Fromjoy starts March 12 in Philadelphia and ends April 10 in Albany, N.Y., according to Blabbermouth. The closest stop for local fans is Observatory OC in Santa Ana on Saturday, March 27. Before that, the band’s new album, Unwanted, arrives Nov. 6 via Arising Empire.

The Full Route

It crosses into Canada for Montreal (Beanfield Theatre, March 16) and Toronto (The Opera House, March 17), then hits Pittsburgh (Preserving Underground, March 19), Detroit (Saint Andrew’s Hall, March 20), Chicago (Concord Music Hall, March 21) and Denver (Summit Music Hall, March 23).

‘Unwanted’ Arrives First
The Thrown 2027 tour follows Unwanted, the follow-up to the band’s 2024 debut album, Excessive Guilt. The announcement describes the new record as “compact, aggressive, addictive, and built around impact,” with “crushing grooves” colliding with “hardcore aggression, nu metal swagger” and hooks. Lyrically, it says the album deals with “frustration, self-reflection, resentment, isolation, and the absurdity of dealing with other people,” delivered with “sarcasm, confidence, and blunt humor.”
No setlist for the Thrown 2027 tour has been announced. Three singles are out so far: “Split,” “Rehearsed” and “Critic.” The announcement says “Critic” turns “outside noise and unsolicited opinions into a defiant statement.”
A Fast Rise
According to the announcement, Thrown’s 2022 debut EP, Extended Pain, passed 50 million streams across just five tracks and stayed in Spotify’s Global Metal Top 200 for almost a year. Excessive Guilt followed in 2024 with eleven tracks in a little more than twenty minutes. The band now has more than 1.5 million monthly Spotify listeners and well over 100 million streams, per the same release.
Thrown have toured North America, Europe and Australia with bands including Knocked Loose, Fit For A King, Counterparts, While She Sleeps and Wage War. They won “Best Breakthrough Live Artist” at the Heavy Music Awards in 2024 and “Best Breakthrough Album” in 2025.
The lineup is Marcus Lundqvist on vocals, Johan Liljeblad and Andreas Malm on guitars, and drummer and producer Buster Odeholm.
Thrown 2027 Tour FAQ
For San Diego Fans
Santa Ana is a familiar drive for anyone who’s chased SoCal-only shows, like Trivium’s Inglewood date. If you want something heavy closer to home sooner, the Fear Factory San Diego show is Nov. 25 at House of Blues, and Dopethrone play Soda Bar on Jan. 17. For everything else in town, see our San Diego metal scene guide. If a San Diego date gets added to the Thrown 2027 tour, we’ll update this post.
