Zardonic Godhead Interface: Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares Guests on Lead Single From DIGICIDE

Zardonic Godhead Interface: Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares Guests on Lead Single From DIGICIDE

Zardonic Godhead Interface is the new single from the Italian-Venezuelan metal and drum and bass producer, and it features Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares alongside vocalist Protopig, also known as Daniel “Kaio” Soto. The song is the lead single from Zardonic’s fifth studio album, DIGICIDE, due March 12, 2027, via Phobos/MMC. The official “Godhead Interface” lyric video went up on Zardonic’s YouTube channel on Oct. 29.

The Cazares connection matters in San Diego right now: Fear Factory headline House of Blues San Diego on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Zardonic Godhead Interface: Who Plays What

The credits posted with the lyric video list Federico Ágreda Álvarez, Zardonic’s real name, and Soto as the music writers. Soto wrote the lyrics and sings, Cazares plays guitar, and Ágreda Álvarez handled production, mixing and mastering. The lyric video is by Stanislav Kasian.

The video description calls the song “the explosive lead single and terrifying narrative climax for DIGICIDE.” It also says the track is about “the horrific moment when humanity surrenders its autonomy,” rather than resistance against technology.

What Dino Cazares Said About Zardonic Godhead Interface

Cazares explained the history between the two in a statement published by Theprp:

“Zardonic and I go way back. He’s always understood the connection between crushing metal riffs and the aggression of electronic music. He did some killer work on Fear Factory’s RECODED album, and when we started putting together our new Fear Factory material, I brought him back to inject some synth work and electronic elements into a couple of tracks.”

He continued: “So when he reached out to me about collaborating on ‘Godhead Interface’ for his new album DIGICIDE, it was a no-brainer! The track is a collision of heavy guitars, industrial electronics, and pure sonic aggression. Protopig delivered some vocals that really brought the whole thing together.”

Recoded, released Oct. 28, 2022, on Nuclear Blast, was Fear Factory’s album of remixes of songs from Aggression Continuum.

DIGICIDE: The Album Behind Zardonic Godhead Interface

Zardonic called DIGICIDE “easily the most difficult body of work I’ve ever put together,” saying it “stems from deeply traumatic personal experiences that forced me to see the darkest corners of our system.” He compared his moment of clarity to Roddy Piper’s character Nada putting on the glasses in They Live, adding, “to this day I can’t take them off.”

Protopig said he and Zardonic have known each other “since our beginnings in the early 2000s in the Venezuelan metal scene.” Zardonic described Soto as “my former mentor and now production partner.”

Cazares is not the only metal name on the record. Mayhem vocalist Attila Csihar and Charles “Ghul” Hedger appear on “Dehumanize.” The DIGICIDE tracklist:

  1. Samsara (feat. Melek-Tha)
  2. Ready For War (feat. Sinizter)
