The Disturbed new album is finished in the studio and aimed for release sometime in 2027, guitarist Dan Donegan says. “We’ve tracked” the follow-up to 2022’s Divisive, he told Australia’s The Rockpit, but “we don’t have an exact date” yet. No title, tracklist or release date has been announced.
The interview, with The Rockpit’s Mark Diggins, was published Oct. 27, and Blabbermouth transcribed the album comments the same day. “We have an album sitting there that we’re trying to figure the timeframe [to release],” Donegan said. “So sometime in ’27 is the game plan.”
Disturbed New Album: What Donegan Said
The release plan is tied to the road. Disturbed just announced a 2027 run through New Zealand, Australia and Asia, and Donegan said the band wanted “a game plan and an announcement of the release of an album” to go with it. “I’m hoping that we can have new music, at least a single or something, out before we come over there,” he said, adding that the band still has to “talk with management and figure out that game plan.”
The record isn’t locked yet. Donegan said he’s heading to Los Angeles “in a couple weeks” to meet singer David Draiman and drummer Mike Wengren for “one final comb-through of the material,” a last listen before “we make that final announcement.”
Old riffs and possible guests
Fans of the early albums may hear something familiar. Donegan said he dug up late-’90s rehearsal demos, recorded on a cassette player at the back of the room, and “there’s a certain song that’ll probably make this new album” built on a riff from that era.
He also mentioned possible guest spots. Disturbed’s only outside collaboration on a studio album so far was Heart’s Ann Wilson on Divisive, and Donegan said the band has “a couple artists” in mind for the new one. He was careful to add that “these haven’t taken place yet.”
One song from the sessions is already out: “I Will Not Break,” released in February 2025 as the band’s first single on its own label, Mother Culture Records, after a career on Warner. Donegan said it went to No. 1 in the U.S. and “gives you a taste of some of the aggression. But it’s not all aggression.”
For a sense of how the last one landed, Divisive debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 with 26,000 equivalent units in its first week, per Blabbermouth’s Billboard figures. Donegan also said he’d just seen Metallica at the Sphere in Las Vegas, the residency behind our Roger Waters and James Hetfield story.
