Distant Release Into Despair on Century Media, Bring Deathcore Tour to Anaheim Nov. 21

Distant released Into Despair, their new album on Century Media Records, on Friday, Nov. 6. The Dutch/Slovak deathcore band also put out a video for the title track. They played a release show at Baroeg in Rotterdam the same night, and a U.S. headlining tour starts next week.

The band calls the title track “one of the most personal songs on the album.” In a statement shared by Metalheads Forever, Distant said: “It’s about depression and the feeling of spiraling deeper and deeper into a place where you can no longer see a way out.”

Inside Into Despair

The 13-track, 39-minute album is a change of subject after the fantasy themes of the band’s previous record. Century Media says it deals with the fear of death, personal loss and grief, and also takes on “the false sense of freedom fostered by the digital age.”

Guitarist Nouri Yetgin took on much bigger production duties this time, working with Dutch producer Roelof Klop. “We built a brand-new digital guitar amp from scratch and handled the entire mix and master ourselves,” the band says.

The album has three guests: Tyler Beam of The Last Ten Seconds of Life on “Spirit,” Suffocation’s Ricky Myers on “All Will Be (N)One,” and Kyle Medina on “Flesh and Nails.” The lineup listed on the band’s Bandcamp is Alan Grnja on vocals, Nouri Yetgin on lead guitar, Elmer Maurits on bass and Rene Gerbrandij on drums.

Into Despair is out on CD, grey LP, a Blue EcoMix LP for the U.S., a limited iridescent pearl dawn LP (300 copies, sold by the band) and digital.
