San Diego band Black Sunday release their debut album, Looking Down, on Oct. 30. The 10-track record will be on all platforms that day; the band’s DistroKid page gives the release time as 9 a.m. PT. V13 premiered the full album on Oct. 25.
Black Sunday’s Looking Down
The band’s website lists the opening tracks as “Wear the Crown,” “Looking Down,” “Fallen Son” and “When I Die.” It describes the album as running “from full-on, slamming bangers to psychedelic, atmospheric trips, melodic dynamic builders, and everything in between.”
In its premiere, V13 wrote: “This is high-voltage hard rock, defined by enormous power riffs, the type you rarely hear anymore.” The outlet added that there are “also some darker psychedelic and more melodic songs that come as a nice change of pace.”
The band told V13: “We believe in great songs, huge riffs, epic vocals, memorable hooks, and music that makes you feel something.” The band say fans have heard echoes of Soundgarden, early Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio, Pink Floyd and Alice In Chains.
2026 Shows
The band’s site describes the band as a four-piece but doesn’t name the members. Its shows page lists 2026 dates at McGuffies Live (March 14), the Black Cat Bar with Supernaut (April 4), the Doll Hut in Anaheim (June 7), The Tower Bar opening for Shu Lace (June 17) and the So Cal Heavy Jam at McGuffies Live (Aug. 15).
The label isn’t stated anywhere; the album is distributed through DistroKid. No release show had been announced as of Oct. 25.
